On June 6, 1942, Ms. Helen arrived in the hills of eastern Kentucky where she served in Home Missions for several years. She taught Sunday Schools in schoolhouses, held prayer meetings in grocery stores, taught Vacation Bible Schools, held Children's Meetings and Bible Camps and did hospital visitation. She has taught Bible lessons in mining camps, schoolhouses, homes, churches and store buildings. In those years, she walked miles from one location to another to teach. She crawled under trains crossed rivers on swinging bridges, rode horses and trains to go somewhere to teach the Bible to children or lead a Ladies Bible Class.
In April of 1952, she moved to Arkansas to work with the North Arkansas Gospel Mission where she taught Bible Classes at the local schools for almost 40 years. When asked to comment about her years of children's ministry, her response was:
"To God be the glory, great things He has done".
Helen requested that memorials be directed to: North Arkansas Gospel Mission, PO Box 40, Hasty, AR 72640
